On This Day: A 5-Minute Look Into Daily Events

Welcome to On This Day in History.

Have you ever wondered what happened on a particular day in history? Who died? Who was born? What war was started with some silly words from a certain man on Twitter?

Okay, possibly not the last one. But there are a lot of events that have happened; anniversaries every day of the year. Some of those are more prominent or poignant than others. They stand out in our memories because of our own personal history or things we’re going through at the time. But we don’t always know the full details.

Part of On This Day in History is to bring you the British history events (or those that connect to British history) throughout the year. I’ll share 5-minute breakdowns of events, allowing you to get a look at a time convenient for you. My 5-Minute History posts were popular at Writedge, so I figured these would be useful with a more focused offering.

Of course, I can’t bring you absolutely every event in history on each particular day. I’ll share as much as possible, but I want to leave events to cover in the future.

The blog is officially opening on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018. It’s the date of Prince Albert Victor, Duke of Clarence’s birth. He was grandson to Queen Victoria, named after both his grandparents.

Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook for more information about events that happen On This Day in History.
